The vice president, Acerbi, met with local authorities and toured a model Kiwi packaging destined for the domestic market and export.MAR DEL PLATA (Buenos Aires) – The vice president of the National Service for Agrifood Health and Quality (Senasa), Rodolfo Acerbi, met with the mayor of the General Pueyrredon Party, Guillermo Montenegro, with whom he analyzed the joint work agenda to strengthen actions common in animal and plant health and food safetyThe meeting took place in the city of Mar del Plata, and was also attended by the director of the South Buenos Aires Regional Center of Senasa, Manuel Baldovino Prina, and the municipal secretaries of Production, Pablo Nogués, and Productive Development, Adrián Consoli. On the occasion, it was recalled that the relationship between the Municipality and Senasa - which dates back to the early 1990s - became more fluid after the creation of the regional headquarters in Mar del Plata, at the end of 2007. It was like this that with formal instruments such as agreements and ordinances, plus a professional link in different thematic areas, they have been working jointly on food and health controls - together with the Department of Food Science of the Municipality - in the production, packaging and marketing of fruit and vegetable products, monitoring in concertation markets, route controls, and in the fruit and vegetable products that are made in the spa city, as well as in those from other places and those that are marketed in Mar del Plata and Batán.Emphasis was also placed on the local production of kiwifruit, the most important at the national level, and joint tasks were put into consideration to be developed, through the National Program for the Control and Eradication of the Fruit Fly (Procem), with the in order for the municipality to achieve the status of free of that pest. For this, an agreement will be advanced that will define the technical aspects, the analysis of samples, the inputs and the monitoring tasks and the subsequent exchange of information. At the end of the meeting, Acerbi and Baldovino Prina went to the Patagonian Fruit plant, located in Sierra de los Padres, a model kiwifruit packaging for the domestic market and export, where they toured the facilities and visited the company's kiwales. This plant is authorized by Senasa, has a cold chamber for quarantine treatment against the fruit fly, and receives its respective annual reviews and the exchange to be able to carry out training for agency agents on different regulated procedures.Crop prospecting work is also carried out on the company's own property as well as that of fruit-supplying producers, with monthly supervision. This work consists of official monitoring of fields in the area through Procem.Senasa considers the Municipality of General Pueyrredón as a strategic point within the province of Buenos Aires and also a benchmark in many aspects at the national level. Its productive diversity allows it to offer fresh meat in all its varieties, fresh fruits and vegetables, raw materials close to industrial areas (port and industrial park), logistics that allow cold conditioning, road connections to the domestic and international markets and the port. as the main way of exporting food from extraction and local production.Added to all this is its technological base and knowledge generation, with institutions such as the National Institutes of Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP), Agricultural Technology (INTA), the National Technological Universities (UTN) and Mar del Plata (UNMdP). ), with which Senasa has close ties and maintains articulated work. That is why it is also strategic that the health agency articulates with the Municipality for an integral and harmonious development of the production and economic growth of this region of the country.
