The illusion to see that a business is born in the neighborhood made many residents of O Couto not even think about it and go "to the kitchen".For a few weeks, at number 23 of the Ervedelo street, a modern sign has been displayed that reads “Librería Volando Libre”.Laura Fábrega (Ourense, 1984) is the entrepreneur behind this project that brightens up a street affected by the crisis with more shutters lowered than lights on.“It gave me the opposite feeling. There are lifelong businesses here, many that have been in business for more than 30 years. There are people undertaking and it is a high traffic area.It is a street with life”, explains the bookseller. In these weeks of placing the merchandise, while those from O Couto "sneaked" into the store that opens to the public today for the first time, she also learned about a story that makes her business much more literary.“It was very nice to find out that in the 90s this was a reading room for Caixa Ourense. It made me very excited.I'm not from the neighborhood, but my friends do remember when they used to come to this library. That my bookstore is now in the same place is nice, it's like that relationship with books continues”, Fábrega gets excited.Volando Libre is not a traditional bookstore. In addition to literature for children and adults (there are sections dedicated to nature, art...);It will also have a space for workshops. From illustration to crafts, whatever comes up.“A little what the community offers me.I also want to give space to artisans”, says this young woman. The name of Volando Libre also has its history. When Laura told a friend that she was leaving her steady job at a downtown bookstore after 10 years, her colleague told her: “Laura, flying free”.The bookseller tells that in addition to that story of daring to leave a permanent job, "the idea of reading, of letting my mind fly ... And that connected with my situation of breaking with everything and starting my way".And although entrepreneurship is a risky sport, Fábrega is very optimistic: “At the moment, I am very excited.Let's not talk about fear yet."© The SA RegionCreative Commons licensed content
